Starting a thread for this place. It was formerly on 82nd, then on 122nd. Now it is at:

Tacos y Tortas Morelia
5205 SE Foster
Portland, OR
971-246-0796

Today's specials include panbasos, sopes de chicharron, pollo y deshebrada, enchiladas de tripas, tamales, quesadillas de maiz chorizo chiles capones, chicharron, y deshebrada.

Still good with great salsas but some items like the asada are much weaker.

Photos of the "panbaso" from today.

However, it's worth looking at the version made about two years ago, maybe, when they were on 82nd. Notice it's grilled and pressed, which is really how it should be made so that it doesn't have to be eaten with a knife and fork.

Either way it's damned tasty.

Picked up 1 birria (goat) taco with a smokey chipotle sauce, 2 lengua tacos, an order of chicken flautas (served w/ fresh avocado, sour cream & lettuce), and a mexican coke the other day. The meats were tender and plentiful, the four salsas were all delicious. Tough to beat this place.

i just got a panbaso de carnitas from Morelia. This thing was serious business. It was good, but not the flavor explosion I was expecting. I look forward to trying more of their meats.
